Is Social Media Right For You?

If your still having your doubts about social media here is some food for thought.

The number of companies that are turning a profit through targeted campaigns using social media has more than quadrupled over the past year. Companies everywhere are seeing that having a consistent conversation with their target audiences has benefited more than they could have ever imagined.

Take The New York Jets. The NFL team launched their Ultimate Fan social game in September 2010, which was the first revenue generating Facebook app to be backed by a pro sports team. This year, 10 percent of Jets sponsorships include a social media component; the team is planning to bump it up to 50 percent by next year, according to a Jets Spokesperson.

In order for you to be able to use social media effectively you must make sure that you understand your target audience,  have a creative vision to make personal connections with you audience, and most importantly measure the results and adapt as needed.  By adding social media to your marketing campaign it lets your costumers choose a channel that they are most comfortable with, increasing the likelihood that they’ll connect with your brand in any number of ways or even better yet through the combination of channels.

If this isn’t enough reason for you to start using social media, why don’t you ask Howard Schultz CEO of Starbucks how he saved his company.  When Howard was asked what were some of his newer new strategies?  His response was,

“We recognized that social digital media was not only changing consumer behavior but if done properly, could significantly lower our cost of customer acquisition and could be a creative way to engage emotionally with our customers. We’ve invested heavily in that.”

The best part about it is that you don’t need to be the New York Jets or even Starbucks to benefit from Social Media. If you have an effective campaign in place that is well managed and consistent you too can increase the visibility of your business and drive revenue through multiple streams!!
